Wine Description

Cellar Selection: Oregon Wine Press December 2015 Winner
"A combo of freshly-milled wood and tropical fruit-infused syrup mingles with light floral notes. Honey and cantaloupe coat the mouth and balance appears in the form of bright acid. The final note is dried mango. Pair with spiced coffee cake."

From only one acre of Gewürztraminer vines planted on the steepest slope of our vineyard, this dessert wine has opulent aromas of apricot, white flowers and bosc pears which join warm juicy peaches and tropical fruits on the palate.

This is a sweet wine, but because of the natural acidity, it is fresh and clear with a full mouthfeel and lingering finish. Delicious with seasonal desserts such as apple pie, pears, peach cobbler and persimmon pudding.

Great Northwest Wines: Outstanding! The 2014 edition of Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book raves about the Pinot Noir and dry Riesling coming off Anam Cara’s estate vineyard, and the renowned British writer could also mention the dessert-style Gewürz on offer at this Newberg, Ore., tasting room, too. Its nose is filled with apricot jam, poached pear, clove and honey. The same can be used to describe the fluid, where there’s a yummy thickness to the texture amid the great sweetness and just enough balance to this typically low-acid variety. Clove and cinnamon spices in the finish makes for easy sipping and an ideal pairing with a plate of fresh fruit and cheese.
